What's Interesting
- We weave together past, present and future in a program featuring the “return” of George Gershwin to Music Hall, who last performed with the CSO in 1929, for a special performance of Rhapsody in Blue recorded for player piano. The CSO will accompany him yet again!
- Scriabin experienced synesthesia: sound would cause him to hallucinate color. Based on the creation myth of Prometheus, his Symphony No. 5 imagines a new instrument—a “light organ”—which comes to life on our stage through video by Tal Rosner.
- Louis Langrée summons gigantic orchestral forces for Bjarnason’s CSO-commissioned Collider, inspired by a tool of discovery and exploration.
