Activities/organizations outside of the CSO: Teach a full cello class and Orchestral Excerpts at CCM where I am on the cello faculty. My wife Dr. Sarah Kim and I are the founders and directors of the Cincinnati Young Artists which has been presenting high level chamber music and cello workshops since 2008.
Fun fact about Alan: I have several regular cello students that I teach online using Skype or FaceTime. Currently I have students in Korea, Germany, Boston and Atlanta!
How the orchestra makes the world a better place: The orchestra continues to reach out to more people who don't get to experience this music on a regular basis. It's amazing to me that we are still playing music that has been around for centuries and people still appreciate it! How many current popular music songs could we say that about that will still be popular in 300 years?
