- At the height of his fame, de Falla was drawn to the Alhambra palace. The vast gardens there inspired music that rivals the greatest orchestral works of Ravel and Debussy.
- Dvořák was lured to America by a job as director of the National Conservatory of Music in New York City.
- Dvořák wrote his Ninth Symphony in a townhouse on East 17th Street, adding the title “From the New World” as an afterthought, signifying “impressions and greetings” from America.
